Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception

 

The Welcome Reception on Thursday, 9 September 2010, 18:00 to 20:00, for all participants and accompanying persons will be held in the "Pinakothek der Moderne", a museum of Modern Art located in Munich´s museum district, less than ten minutes walking distance from the ESOPRS meeting venue. This unique museum with its grand scale architecture presents paintings, works on paper, architecture and design and is one of the largest collections of 20th and 21st century art. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the collections by themselves or join guided English tours.  

 

           

 

  

Gala Dinner

 

LENBACH bar, restaurant and gobelin hall in the former Bernheim palais from 1887, stylish designed by Sir Terence Conran, endowed with the motifs of the seven sins: envy, greed, lust, sloth, wrath, vanity and gluttony is the right place for a night out. Located in the very center of Munich, well known as a connoisseurs paradise, the LENBACH will host ESOPRS Gala Dinner on Friday, 10 September 2010, at 20:00.

 

                

 

  

Nymphenburg excursion

An excursion to Nymphenburg will be organized on Friday morning for a very limited number of participants. First one will visit the famous porcelain manufactory in Munich Nymphenburg (www.nymphenburg.com). The group will have a private guided tour of the “Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg” where finest porcelain has been handcrafted for 260 years. Afterwards some of the State Rooms and the “Gallery of the Beauties” in Schloss Nymphenburg will be visited. A short walk in the Nymphenburger Park will give an impression of this splendid and beautiful park. Finally the attendees will have the opportunity to have a light lunch in the “Schlosscafe im Palmenhaus” (www.palmenhaus.de).

Friday 10 September, meeting point in front of Hotel Exquisit (Pettenkoferstr. 3 at Sendlinger Tor) at 9:30; half-day excursion; service charge is 35 €. Please apply at the registration desk in the venue.

    

City hightlights and secrets - a guided walk

An English guided walk from the Geschwister-Scholl-Platz starting in front of the University Main Building along Ludwigstrasse into Old Munich will be offered on Friday and Saturday afternoon. The tour will pass some of the classicistic buildings of of King Ludwig II, the “Hofgarten” and the Residence with its recently restored backside with an interesting mixture of old and modern buildings crossing posh Maximiliansstrasse and entering the very old part of Munich city with lively Viktualien-Market and probably some side trips according to the wishes of the participants.
